Claims Assistant (OA)

The Claims Assistant (OA) is located in the Patient Services Section of the Business & Entitlement Division of the Milwaukee VA Medical Center.
The Claims Assistant (OA independently determines and established legal entitlement to VA Medical Benefits, for both VA and non-VA care.
These benefits include, but are not limited to inpatient care, nursing home care, domiciliary care, outpatient care, fee basis care, home health care, beneficiary travel and dental benefits, each of which has its own set of eligibility idiosyncrasies.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
o Determines and establishes legal entitlement to VA Medical Benefits for both VA and non-VA care.
o Enters entitlement information into Decentralized Hospital Computer system.
o Uses and applies medical terminology in order to assess the probability of medical care being provided for an adjudicated service connected disabilityo Conducts various projects and special duties.
o Use computer applications to prepare reports and correspondence, research, maintain and input information.
o Controls access to and protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive information.
o Interprets and applies a vast myriad of VA rules and regulations.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:
30 pm.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
