The ideal candidate has experience directly supporting dynamic business groups in fast moving environment, leading the implementation of custom developed software solutions, and contributing to the overall growth of the Information Technology team.
Overview:The Senior Java Software Engineer role for the Investments team is primarily responsible for the design, developing, testing, and support of in-house developed applications. This individual may at times be responsible for providing IT development and support of purchased applications as well as development and integration of new software programs and applications. Adaptability and flexibility for this role is required due to the pace of project work and dynamic nature of our business model. Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills are critical to successful performance in this role.Mission:Ensure the reliability, scalability and consistency of key applications and business processes related to the Investments function within the firm.
Responsibilities:a Play a key role in owning the relationship between our Investment teams and ITa Needs to be highly collaborative function in a BA capacity as wella Act as a liaison for IT to meet business objectives through the use of technologya Work collaboratively with team members in all aspects of the SDLCa Plan, execute, and manage the development of new features for business softwarea Ensure that new development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issuesa Design and develop custom interfaces between systemsa Lead testing phase of software and applications under development in order to identify and remedy potential problem areasa Provide on-going technical and functional support for a limited set of vendor applicationsa Orchestrate projects and strategies between business units and associated teamsa Create high level and detailed technical designs a Create logical database designs and system solutions using MS SQL Server a Participate in system architecture design and tool set selection a Complete special assignments as assigned Candidate Profile:a Bacheloras degree in CS or related field a Keen interest in gaining business knowledge -- driven by solving challenges through technology a Proven track record of delivering high quality IT systems and applications, specifically within the financial industry, and will possess at least 5 years application support or development experiencea Excellent analytic and problem solving skillsa Ability to multi-task, manage several projects at oncea Ability to clearly present technical concepts to a non-technical business audiencea Possess highly developed problem-solving and troubleshooting skills a Ability to make quick and accurate decisions, including the appropriate escalation of critical issues a Ability to interact effectively with peers in a fast-paced environment and under aggressive deadlinesa OO development experience in Java, C#, or C++a Working knowledge of Hibernate and Springa Some experience with batch programming languages (Perl, PowerShell, KSH)Possess extensive SQL experienceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
