Key responsibilities include: Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions and legal codes
Works closely with external clients while resolving legal issues; manages outside counsel, negotiates settlements and attends mediations
Prepares legal documents such as briefs, mediation statements, pleadings, releases and letters for review, approval, and use by Vice President of Legal - Litigation
Supervises and prepares cases for defense of cases in litigation
Reviews medical records to evaluate and defend against claims
Studies proposed and existing legislation
Provides legal advice with respect to administration, and prepare resolution and forms
Investigates facts and law of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly
Assists with preparation of insurance reports including loss runs
Communicates with plaintiff and defense counsel as well as customers
Assists with, and may actively lead, negotiations
Assists in preparation of interrogatory and document production answers
Anticipates and guards against legal risks involving the organization

We seek the following
Qualifications: Juris Doctorate required
At least 5 years of litigation experience as an Attorney
Strong experience and desire to negotiate cases
Possesses extensive knowledge of a distinct skill or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment
Has working knowledge of a functional discipline
Proficient with MS Office
Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required
Ability to represent company at mediations with a strong desire and expertise in negotiating and writing
Attention to detail and system orientated skills are critical
Ability to travel
