We are looking for a Production Planner / Buyer who will support all aspects of supply planning and direct procurement.
This position will be an integral part of the supply chain team, responsible for supporting production operations at our location in Milwaukee.
As a business with a strong focus on process improvement and ERP System utilization this role is critical to our future success.
This role will be responsible for coordinating production workflow for multiple production areas by scheduling jobs and prioritizing work orders.
They will be working closely with supervisors on the production floor, monitoring jobs, addressing delays, schedule changes, and other issues that arise to ensure on-time delivery goals are met.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities Planner Analyze bill of materials, sales orders, drawings, routings and procedures in order to ensure proper control and flow of material from time of release until completion of orders Coordinate run schedules for machines to ensure efficiency along with customer demand.
Maintain the run and set up times associated with each job / product / part Manage planning and procurement process for assigned categories utilizing SAP Inform the proper departments of any delays or problems, and ensure a timely response/corrective action.
Authorize the picking, delivery, and production release of materials.
Evaluate critical raw material workflow and determine optimal inventory levels.
Attend production meetings to provide all departments with material status and shipping schedules.
Oversee data accuracy of shop orders and material allocations.
Establish and set priorities on long lead and critical path items through purchasing, inspection, manufacturing and engineering.
Identify, evaluate and recommend appropriate primary suppliers and, when necessary, secondary suppliers, in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Team.
Issue purchase orders, schedule change orders, and expedite in order to meet demand.
Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies with vendors including inventory, receiving, and cost variances.
Conduct negotiations to obtain best price, delivery, quality, specifications, and freight terms.
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, promote quality, decrease inefficiencies in the supply chain, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively with internal and external partners to ensure monthly shipments of sales orders.
Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Skills Required 3 years of experience in production planning, and/or master scheduling, and/or buyer BA/BS Degree is in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field preferred Understanding of production/supply planning and inventory control using MRP/ERP systems.
Understanding of BOMs, Routings, and Master Data Strong analytical skills, ability to evaluate data and create value added analysis.
Advanced MS Excel skills, such as pivot tables, charting, formulas, and macros Lean manufacturing knowledge and practical application Solutions oriented; able to effectively diagnose and solve problems Proactive communication with both internal and external customers as issues occur General knowledge of manufacturing processes Preferred Experience Experience managing direct (production) materials preferred.
SAP experience preferred.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
