Program Support Assistant (OA)

This position in located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Surgical Care Division, Administrative Office. The employee serves as the primary timekeeper for the Division and also performs office support and administrative assistance in various Surgical Care areas of the Division. Performs all timekeeping functions for Surgical Care employees and resolves all problems. Instructs all Division employees in correct timekeeping procedures. Troubleshoots complex situations to determine where the error(s) occurred and determines the steps necessary to correct the problem. Ensures staff is aware of any changes necessary to avoid the problem in the future. Provides guidance and assistance to new physicians and others as they learn to do their timecards, assisting them in solving their problems. Prepares timely tour of duty memos, insuring final receipt of signed copies. Reviews timecards on a concurrent basis and identifies problems in a timely fashion seeking out employees to resolve and correct problems proactively. Reviews tour of duty memos, subsidiary timecards and electronic timecards to insure that all entries are properly recorded and are congruent. Assures that temporary changes to tours of duty are properly documented. Educates employees on policies and procedures relating to timekeeping. Work Schedule:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Understanding of all timekeeping policies and procedures; Identifying errors and violations of timekeeping rules; Knowledge of office routines; Receiving and directing telephone calls; Planning, organizing, and coordinating work; Using and operating a computer for word processing and generating reports. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the second year. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

This is an office position that does not require any special physical demands. Carrying of light objects such as books, files, binders, and computer printouts, etc, is required. This is primarily a sedentary position that requires a normal amount of standing, sitting, bending, walking, and electronic data input. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
