Maintenance and Operations Supervisor

This Maintenance and Operations Supervisor position is located in the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI in the Facility Management Division. Major Duties:
Plans, lays out, assigns, and coordinates work for the Transportation and Grounds Team on a weekly and monthly basis. Establishes priorities and deadlines based on general work schedules, methods, policies, and code requirements. Redirects resources within delegated limitations to accommodate emergencies. Coordinates projects and other work activities under his/her direct control with other divisional teams, divisions, and contractors. Participates in final inspections of all new projects, alterations, and special actions. Recommends promotions, reassignments, or other status changes of subordinate personnel. Participates in the development and evaluation of qualitative and quantitative work standards. Oversees attendance and leave, including scheduling and approving sick and annual leave. Directs on-the-job-training of employees and broadening the knowledge of employees through training. Works with Union Representatives on matters involving personnel actions. Reviews work orders and determines personnel and methods to accomplish work. Please note:

Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Your resume background must demonstrate knowledge and skill in the operational and service aspects of hospital fleet equipment, passenger transportation, materials and goods transportation, underground storage tanks, grounds and roadways, and warehousing comparable in size and complexity. Knowledge of operations and maintenance. Knowledge to be responsible for enforcement of applicable safety regulations and policies, safe work methods/practices and proper utilization of safety equipment. Thorough knowledge to be responsible for the environmental compliance program for underground storage tanks (including their monitoring systems) and vehicular fleet emissions. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT:

1. Passenger transportation, 2. Air brakes, 3. Medical Endorsement. To be valid, your CDL must be registered at the DMV under the Tier system, per the Wisconsin State Law as of January 14, 2014. Occasionally lifts heavy loads, machinery parts, etc., Must be able to climb/descend ladders and scaffolds. Incumbent is subject to all hazards inherent in the physical plant and grounds environments, for example:
burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, falls, high heat, high humidity, etc.
