JOB TITLE Barista
DEPARTMENT Starbucks
SUPERVISOR Starbucks Manager
POSITION PURPOSE To accurately collect payments and distribute change, operate a cash register, provide fast and friendly customer service, and prepare Starbucks beverages.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide quality beverages consistently for all customers, preparing Starbucks beverages to standard.
2. Maintain condition and cleanliness of work area.
3. Must have good speaking skills, maintain composure and practice good etiquette.
4. Follow standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing all products.
5. Ascertain guest satisfaction; in the event of dissatisfaction, tactfully negotiate an accommodation.
6. Comply with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, cash drawer and house bank management.
7. Balance house bank at the end of the shift. Retrieve and return bank from vault to workstation.
8. Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard outlet cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, count total bank, prepare cash drops, and total all other charges.
2. Ability to effectively resolve conflict situations, such as inaccurate check total.
3. Ability to read and speak English sufficient to understand menus and special promotions, and communicate with guests.
4. Ability to operate keyboard and Point of Sale procedures to handle cashier functions.
5. Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours in workstation.
6. No prior experience required.
7. Prior hospitality and cashiering experience preferred.
8. Ability to learn all menu items.
9. Ability to provide customers with prompt service.
10. Ability to learn up-selling techniques.
11. Ability to uphold all departmental guidelines.
12. Ability to self-motivate during slow periods.
13. Ability to multi-task.
